FAQ
Participants are expected to be in the College by 18:00 (6:00pm) the night before the course begins and departure is on the next day after the course ends. All courses are full time.
There is limited time for extra curricular activities.
Course Fees include the following:
- Room and board (3 meals per day) from dinner on the night before course begins through breakfast the day after the course ends
- Tuition
- All transportation for field trips and admission fees to sites and museums
- Other costs directly related to course activities
Course Fees DO NOT include:
- ALL travel expenses to and from the College (or arranged meeting location if course begins and ends in another country)
- Gratuity (US $100 per person per course)
- Any beverages ordered at meals served outside the College
- Extra- curricular tours or events
- Telephone use
- Laundry service
- Wi-Fi or Internet usage
- Extra nights before or after the course begins (available on limited basis, contact College for more information)
- Single Rooms are available for an extra charge on a limited basis. For information about single rooms, please contact warden@sgcjerusalem.org
Physical Capability Requirements:
- All courses are physically demanding (Participants above 70 years old are required to send a doctors certificate)
- Most courses require extensive walking over rough terrain and uneven pavement
- Courses MAY have extended bus journeys or off-road travel by jeep
- The College does not have age limits, but participants over the age of 70 years, are required to submit to the College a Doctors Certificate of Fitness
Special Dietary Needs:
- Special medical or dietary concerns must be discussed with your physician AND the College before enrollment
- Vegetarian food options are available with advanced notice
Money:
- Currency used in Israel is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS)
- The College DOES NOT accept credit cards or travellers checks
- Payments to the College may be made in the form of a personal check, money order or cash. The College accepts most currencies (US, Canadian, Euro, Sterling, Australian)
- There are Money Changers close to the College that will change most currencies into NIS. The College is not able to change money
- ATM machines are available close to the College
Children:
- The College DOES NOT provide care for children
Insurance:
- All course participants are expected to have TRAVEL insurance to cover the cost of flight cancellations, as well as International MEDICAL Insurance for medical care while abroad
Passports and Visas:
Passports:
- All course members must have a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining validity.
Visas:
- For passports of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, and any country of the European Union:
Israel: No Visa is required
Turkey: multi entry visa is required. The Visa should be purchased at the airport in Turkey
Egypt and Jordan: No individual Visa is required. A Group Visa will be purchased by the College
Greece: No individual Visa is required
- All other passports:
Israel: an Individual Visa is required. If the course starts in Israel and travels to another country, a Multiple Entry Visa for Israel is required
Turkey: multi entry visa is required. The Visa should be purchased at the airport in Turkey
Egypt and Jordan (Ways in the Wilderness Course): No individual Visa is required. A Group Visa will be purchased by the College
